We’ve been waiting to hear for a while but finally an e-mail arrived inviting us to have a rolling digital display of images in the Royal Festival Hall at an event on 21st September .
This landmark event taking place on the evening of 21st explores what a National Park City is. Could London be the First? While the RPS has no affiliation whatsoever with the organisation behind this event, we “Breathing Londoners” clearly have a lot of common interests, us in exploring, observing and recording our public open spaces, they in preserving and developing them – and what a fantastic opportunity to have our work seen by a large audience, and to spread the word about Breathing London!
We have over 3,000 images on the website to date and about 50 or 60 of those will be selected for the display. Will they be yours, and how do you get selected? Selection will be based on the quality of images – we will be representing the RPS, after all – and their relevance to the Breathing London project, but we will try to include work from as many of you as possible.
So,
- This is a good opportunity to get all those images sitting on your computer uploaded. Because of the timescales, the deadline for uploading images for inclusion in this project is next Monday, 29th August (midnight!)
- All contributors to the Breathing London website are invited to select one image. Those who have uploaded 50 images or more to the site will be able to choose many more – and I will be writing to you all with further details, probably tomorrow.
- To register your image(s) for consideration in this Exhibition, you need to do the following. Upload your images in the usual way, then go to the “Backend Dashboard” > Photos > All Photos > place your cursor on the selected image and select Edit. On the Right Hand Side scroll down to Projects, click Festival Hall. Go back to the top right hand side and “update” (most important). Sounds complicated but it is not really, I promise!
- The deadline for adding your images to the Festival Hall project is Wednesday 31st August (midnight).
External selectors will choose the 50 or so images during the period 1st to 5th/6th September after which the display will be prepared by our graphics designer, reviewed and submitted to the event organisers.
