This photo captures two boroughs. It was taken standing in Newham borough which includes much of the foreground, while Waltham Forest is in the distant half of the photo. The blocks of flats you can see (in Waltham Forest) are often mistaken to represent the name ‘Wanstead Flats’ however this is not the case and what people refer to as ‘The Flats’ is the southern-most portion of Epping Forest. The tower blocks in the distance are Fred Wigg Towers & John Walsh Towers (Waltham Forest Council Blocks). ‘The Flats’ is a great area to go walking as its large area of open grassland is home to many wildlife species. The area of photographers standpoint in this photo is the public car park on what was a very rainy morning.
